Bug List
1) While watching my favorite sporting events and games, there is always commercials coming up that kill the excitement and interest of the game during important moments.
Why: Commercials and advertisements are one of the main ways organizations like the NFL,NBA, and MLB make their money and also one of the main ways companies get people to use their products or services. Since so many people watch these events, they need to make time to show the ads while people are watching most, for example the most inconvenient and exciting times of the events.
2) Even when there is barely anyone in the building, the DMV always takes forever to assist you. I can spend hours in the DMV just to resolve one simple issue.
Why: The DMV is always understaffed and a lot of time there are a lot of people there so they are busy. They also probably are quite exhausted and worn after after having to deal with so many people everyday who are angry most of the time or have a problem.
3) When I am dining at a restaurant, I am always bugged when I am waiting for my food and I see a group of people get there food before me when they were sat way after I was.
Why: Sometimes people who are sat after you may have known what they wanted quicker and ordered before you or you are in the section of a more busy server who has more tables to get to.
4) One of my biggest personal bugs is getting gum on my shoe. It is nearly impossible to get it off and all it does is stick more dirt and trash to your shoe.
Why: People do not dispose of their trash and gum properly and it ends up getting spit out and left right in the path of other people walking and coming through to step on it.
5) During registration period, it is nearly impossible to meet with an academic advisor even if you try to go early. There is usually an hour wait at least if you do not have an appointment but the appointments are always backed up as well!
Why: The registration period is the same for everybody so everybody is going to be panicking and asking questions about the upcoming schedules so everybody is going to seek out the advisors for help at the same time and there are only so many advisors.
6) When other cars block my car in at large events I am very annoyed because I can never leave when I want to leave and I can never find the owner of the car that is blocking me in.
Why: Parking at large events usually leads to the spots being filled up quick in which people just start stacking the cars behind each other in order to just get parked and get over to the event.
7) If I am going the speed limit or even a little bit over and there is still somebody riding up on the back of my car I get very aggravated.
Why: There are divers who are in a hurry and are trying to get past you in which the fast lane is probably filled up with cars and their only way is to push you to go faster.
8) I can also do this from time to time, but not using your blinker, especially in busy traffic, is very annoying and nerve racking.
Why: A blinker is used to warn other drivers beforehand that you are going to turn or switch lanes but the drivers who try to fit in small spaces quick or are not sure of where to turn can swerve into those spots with no warning or blinker that can cause accidents.
9) When eating a bag of chips, it bugs me that there is only half the bag full of chips and the rest is just air.
Why: Companies say that it is so the chips stay crisp and fresh, others say that it is just to save money and give you less than what you paid for.
10) Having to pay for so many different streaming platforms to watch my favorite shows and movies gets very frustrating.
Why: These streaming sites all have the more popular shows and movies to watch, but will charge monthly fees in order to use them and usually you have to pay for a whole new site when the one you use does not have one of the shows or movies you want to watch.
11) Chick-fil-a is closed on every Sunday and that bugs me probably the most out of all things on this list and it is not acceptable.
Why: The executives of the restaurant chain give their employees the day off on Sunday in order to set aside a day for worship if they please or rest which they value highly.
12) Most schools do not require their students to pay to go to the football games, however, the University of Florida does!
Why: Because of the huge success and reputation of our football program, the school knows all the kids would be willing to pay for tickets if they had to and charge to create extra revenue that goes back into the program.
13) When I have to withdraw money from an ATM or deposit coins into a cash machine, there are always taxes that they charge that bugs me a lot.
Why: To take some extra money from you since the demand is high for services like that and people are accepting to pay it because they have to or find more difficult ways to do what they need to do.
14) I have had a professor that had a very strong accent which made it very difficult to understand the lectures which made me very frustrated.
Why: The professor community is very diverse and has many different backgrounds. As a product of that, there are some professors who come from backgrounds of different cultures and therefore have different accents that may or may not be very difficult to understand.
15) Another huge thing that bugs me on the road is when people drive slow in the fast lane.
Why: Some drivers just do not realize they are even in the fast lane while others just like to cruise on it because there is more open space usually so they just start going slower.
16) When people use the handicapped parking spot without the sticker always tends to bug me if I see it myself.
Why: Some people just can't find a spot and expect to be quick in the store so they will take the parking spot if it is empty or they just assume they will not get towed or no one will use it (which some people actually need it)
17) Sharing the armrest with someone on a plane or car can be very uncomfortable and difficult.
Why: The way the seats are set up, usually in the middle, there is only one armrest for two arms which makes it impossible to share it and therefore you are fighting with the person next to you for arm comfortability.
18) When staying in a hotel, the blanket is always tucked in so hard that you can't pull the covers up.
Why: The maintenance employees usually tuck the covers around the bottom of the mattress very tight to make the beds look very neat and presentable as well as increasing the chances that a customer makes a mess of the covers while sleeping.
19) If a coworker does not show up to their given shift without any warning.
Why: People are sometimes in situations were they are not capable of contacting the employer or they choose to not give notice because they could not find a replacement for them.
20) When a customer is waiting in line in front of you for a while and when they finally get up to the counter they have to think about what they want.
Why: They may have not been paying attention while in line or could have been busy talking to someone while waiting. The person could also just be extremely indecisive.
Reflection: The list was definitely not as easy to make as I thought it was going to be. A lot of the ones I used were ones I had experienced or noticed throughout the last week or so but after those it became very hard to look back and try to remember some extras. I did however, notice a couple more things that bothered me that I was not as aware of prior to doing this assignment. I am not necessarily sure all of these bugs have a true business solution, but there are some that could and regardless I definitely learned to open up to more of my surroundings and notice more that goes on around me.
